Did a trip to Kuala Selangor yesterday; about a 2 hour drive north west of KL. The main attraction of the area is the Firefly display, but before that starts you can visit the town park to see these chaps, there are a lot of them…

Then, as the sun sets, head for the river to find a seafood restaurant on the riverbanks, before going to see the Fireflies.

This riverside area seems to be mainly Chinese and they must be doing quite well… This highly ornate temple with fantastic marble etchings and carvings must have cost a fortune.

Sadly I can’t show you the Fireflys as it’s very dark and no filming allowed…

There are a few places with some kind of offer; we went to the one calling itself (rather grandly) the Firefly Resort (click for website), this is a good choice as you silently cruise the river on electric powered boats and see the Fireflies in the trees along the banks.
