Is it me? – response part 2
The closing chapter – probably…
Further to the story here; O2 have offered £50 as a ‘gesture of goodwill’ and I have now heard back from the credit agency Experion.
As expected, there are absolutely no issues with any of the records – its all clean and fully paid up etc: no CCJs, no bounced cheques, no outstanding debts, no unpaid fines… rien, zilch, nada, nothing…
Nothing in fact, including a check by O2, so I went through all this and provided all my details to check my own records, when O2 had never even checked the record anyway! So I still have no idea why I was refused ‘credit’ and have had another good old moan at O2 about their shoddy practices.
The only thing the Experion man suggested might be an issue (if O2 had bothered to check), is that I have a huge potential credit facility. I have 4 credit cards and whilst I only use one, I could potentially use them all and run up debt of about £30,000.
mmm, there are good reasons to have a few cards from different providers, the supplier of my main card is in the habit of calling quite frequently to verify transactions – if you miss the call they lock the card until you get back to them. This is fine if you are in the UK, but could present a serious problem if you were in some far flung part of the world and needed to make an emergency purchase.
